1-) How long did it take to study for the new PMP examination?
I began studying eight weeks before my PMP exam date. In the first four weeks, I studied for approximately two hours per day. In the following four weeks, I increased my daily study time to four hours.
2-) What was your biggest challenge in preparing for the new PMP test?
I was surprised to discover that the PMBOK is not fast-moving when I began to study it. I needed to find motivation to continue my studies with the PMBOK. I realized that it was crucial to take in every bit of information that I could in order to improve my project management skills.
I then took it seriously and created a study plan with the exact exam date. I also used flashcards and training videos to support my motivation. I kept the plan up until the day before the exam.
3- 3) How was the quality and reliability of PMP training materials?
Master of Project Academy’s PMP training materials made it easy to understand all the processes. The footnotes highlight the most important points. Many of the techniques and tools in the book can be adapted to your everyday project problems and challenges.
4- 4) How similar were the PMP exam questions when you looked at them?
I cannot say that I faced the exact same question twice. The questions are of a similar level. Master of Project provides a balanced understanding of the actual exam questions. The new PMP exam had some long questions. Some questions had irrelevant information. There were very few formula-based questions.
5- ) How many PMP exam questions have you practiced before taking the exam?
I reviewed all the PMP exam questions and the mock exam from the book. I also took two mock exams from Master of Project Academy. I used my incorrect answers to study the prep book again and focus on the topic in detail.
6- Describe the support you received during the PMP training.
I received prompt, clear, and accurate responses every time. It made me feel secure and at ease during my study period. The discussion forum was where I found the majority of the answers to my questions.
7- ) Do any future PMP candidates have any recommendations?
Professionals should prove as much as possible your skills and experience with a well-known certificate. This can make a significant difference in your career advancement. You can also use certification goals to motivate your personal development.
8- ) Do any of you have any tips or tricks for the PMP exam?
The PMP exam can be difficult and long. To maintain your concentration, you need to be in a good physical condition. The most important tip is to get enough sleep before the exam and to stay hydrated during the new PMP exam.
It is smart to prepare an exam strategy by using mock exams. It is a good idea to check the time during the exam.
I don’t think it is a good idea for you to waste your time writing down formulas or processes before the exam. It is better to take the entire exam to understand the questions.
9- ) What would you recommend to a friend who is interested in PMP certification?
Understanding the PM processes is the most important item on the list. It is important to understand the relationship between the processes. I recommend reviewing all process headings and definitions.

Most likely, you are asking yourself what will replace it. Let’s start by defining the purpose of the exam 74-343. The Microsoft Project Professional certification exam 74-343 was coded. This application is not included in the Microsoft Office Suite but it is now available in the Office 365 package.

The Microsoft Expert: Microsoft Project 2013 certificate was awarded to those who passed the exam. They also received the title MCP (Microsoft Certified Professional). Microsoft has discontinued the Microsoft Project certification exam and it no longer awards MCP certification. This exam was required to earn the “Managing Portfolios and Projects with Microsoft PPM (70-348)” certification. It was also retired.
Why did Microsoft remove the MS Project certification exam from its certification program?
Why did Microsoft remove it? Will it replace 74-343 by a new certification, or will it? Microsoft announced a series changes in late 2018 that will fundamentally alter the Microsoft Project. They said that they did this to adapt to rapidly changing technologies and the world of project management. Microsoft Project’s certification exam was also canceled because it did not follow the Microsoft Project direction. There are significant changes in both the content and the approach. This certificate will not be replaced at the moment.
Microsoft has removed a certificate from the market. If you have earned the Microsoft Project certification, it will still be in your transcripts at the Microsoft Certified Professional site. These changes should be acknowledged as part of the Microsoft Certified Program Development. Microsoft wants to strengthen the program overall, so they are focusing more on specialist certifications than exams. There are other ways to earn Microsoft Project Certification skills. There are many Microsoft Project training videos and courses available online.

1- 1) How long did it take you to study for the PMI ACP exam?
After passing the PMP exam in December, I began studying within a week. I spent 2-3 weeks studying online for the PMI ACP course. After starting preparation on February 8, I passed the PMI ACP exam within 1.5 months. I spent approximately 1 hour each day, and 4-8 hours on holidays.
2-) What was your biggest challenge in preparing for the PMI-ACP exam preparation?
Deciding whether or not I am ready to take the PMI ACP exam. There are many versions of the exam, and they can be very different. PMI ACP exam requires memorizing several agile practices. To prepare my study plan, I used the PMI ACP study guide. After I finished my preparation, I realized that I was not ready to take the fifth real PMI ACP exam questions set. I found that PMI ACP exam question sets don’t require memorization of a lot of agile practices.
3- 3) How was the quality and safety of PMI-ACP training materials
Master of Project Academy’s PMI ACP training materials are excellent. They are clear and easy to understand, and give a deep understanding of agile mindset. It would be fine to have a few more simulation questions. These materials would be a good addition to my PMI ACP exam review.
4- 4) How similar were the PMI-ACP questions when you looked at them?
The types of questions are the same. Questions required minimal memorization. They are slightly easier than the questions I solved at each chapter’s end. The final sample PMI ACP exam question are slightly more difficult than the actual PMI ACP test. The same questions you will find on the PMI ACP exam are not available elsewhere.
5- ) How many PMI ACP exam question samples did you practice before taking the exam?
I practiced about 200 PMI-ACP sample questions during my course study. I also read a PMI ACP exam prep guide. The book contained around 100 questions. I also found additional questions on the internet. Many of these questions require memorization, so I was disappointed that the PMI-ACP book and course materials are not sufficient.
But, when I passed my PMI ACP exam I realized that it was enough. Perhaps I didn’t really need to read the book. As part of my PMI ACP exam review, I can recommend that you only prepare for the PMI ACP training at Master of Project Academy.
6- Describe the support you received during the PMI ACP training.
I found the PMI ACP course material too simple and didn’t ask for technical support. The instructor of the PMI ACP training was responsive. He answered my questions in the discussion forum in less than 24 hours.
7- ) Do any future PMI-ACP candidates have any recommendations?
Do not waste your time answering questions that you find online. They could be misleading. I spent two additional weeks preparing for these questions. Although you can purchase a supplementary PMI ACP prep manual as I did, I would not recommend it if I had to prepare again.
Master of Project Academy PMI ACP training should be sufficient to prepare for and pass the PMI ACP examination. You can register, follow the lectures and prepare for your exam with confidence.
8- ) Do any of you have any tips or tricks for the PMI ACP exam day?
I have some standard recommendations:
Be calm. Read each question carefully
Take your time. Mark any question that you aren’t sure of for review. You can return to it later.
To double-check your answers, take advantage of the three hours you have been given for the test
9- ) What would you recommend to a friend who is interested in PMI-ACP certification?
Cheryl was a great project manager. She could lead a team to a successful project completion. Cheryl was, in a way, the Cat and Hat of project management. She came with her own bag of tricks. The Cat’s bag of tricks included mayhem. Cheryl’s bag of tricks contained best practices in project management. She had processes and templates for every stage of the project. She was organized and intelligent, and her team enjoyed working with her. Cheryl was a consummate professional and loved being a consultant. She enjoyed working with different organizations, learning about new industries, and meeting new people.
Cheryl would be begged by her team members and project sponsors to stay when it was time to move on. When she left, her processes and templates were with her. She wasn’t reluctant to share her work. Most of her team members and sponsors didn’t keep copies of her work. They also rarely documented her work. Cheryl’s departure was a significant loss. Cheryl left behind a strong leader, a skilled manager and access to proven project management practices.
It would have been possible to avoid some of this loss. It would have been fantastic if Cheryl had decided that she wanted to stay. Her project management approach could have been documented, even though she knew that her role was to leave. Or, even better, the organization has its own project management approach. It is disappointing to lose someone like Cheryl, but it does not mean you lose your project management knowledge.
It takes time to develop your approach. To identify the project management deliverables that will be created. To agree on who must sign and review. To ensure that your processes work, you need to have proper oversight. It takes discipline to insist that all project managers use the same method. The best way to improve your organizational project management skills is to actually use it. To pass it on to your employees. To have your executives support project management, and buy-in to your organizational approach.
You want to hire people like Cheryl. You should. You can also teach them how to manage projects at your company when they are onboarded. Don’t rely on others to help you create your best practices. And don’t let them leave without your project management tools.
Tom Mochal, [email protected]’s editor, discusses how to add enhancement work to the managed portfolio that is not directly related to a specific project. This will ensure that dollars are not being spent on projects.
Tom’s views are my agreement. One point I would like to make is that value judgment is subjective. Incentives for portfolio managers are different from those for developers or departments. Although the “enhancement” may require a lot of effort from a few people, is it being cost-benefit analyzed before being implemented? It may not be being managed with the rest.
A developer might have an idea to migrate an internal support application from one platform onto another. It will be quicker and easier, and it will look better while he’s doing it.
What if the company works perfectly as it is? What if the changes cause dissatisfaction among the company’s users? What if there is already a bottleneck in the business process that causes slowdowns in the application?
These are questions portfolio managers may want to answer. Managers and department heads may be more concerned with keeping their budget intact than doing ROI analysis for all these support activities. It’s all about incentives. It’s all about incentives. The department head might be able to claim that we “doubled the application speeds”, which looks great in a quarterly report.
It would be a great idea to bring some of these decisions into a portfolio that has defined projects. This will ensure that the business’s incentives are more aligned with the decision-maker’s.
I don’t do many reviews of new books or training products to help with PMP preparation anymore.
You may already know that I used PM PrepCast as a study aid when I took my PMP exam. OSP International’s related products have been great, and I highly recommend them.
There’s a new tool I would consider as a companion option, and it was amazing enough to make me want to dig deeper. The project manager behind this tool has been a friend of mine for many years. This is why I was compelled to look at it.
It’s very user-friendly and you’ll soon see the things I value in a product like this: good explanations of the answers, quality questions in the sample test, visual displays that show how the processes interconnect, etc.

Contrary to Jim’s guest blog, here’s a story about my grass-roots efforts at implementing lean thinking within my control.
Although there has been some interest in the idea of surrounding teams, I believe that a true lean system/project needs strong executive support.
If you don’t have it (yet), then sub-optimization within a team or two can be a way to stretch your lean muscles and make some gains.
That’s at least the approach I have been using.

Josh, My top goals are to improve my work and align my PM skills with the PMP standards. I have been absorbing your helpful nudges to this point (PMStudent blogs, Kanban and this email).
This brings me to the question: Kanban is a way to manage your tasks and eliminate?multitasking. This is a great idea. Where do you keep your master list of tasks that will drive you to your project deliverables, and why? You would think that you would be moving the tasks from the master to your Kanban board, and then back to the master as they are completed. No?

Great question. As a federal employee, I am required to follow a waterfall structure because we have EVM. Although I believe that end-to-end Lean thinking would greatly increase the efficiency and effectiveness of any program or project, I am not in a position where I can implement agency-wide changes. This is a joint project so NASA and the USGS would need to agree to lean thinking throughout the value stream.
So I translate between Kanban and traditional project schedules that my team uses. The WBS is still used to deliverables. These are then turned into work packages and scheduled in the traditional manner. They will be decomposed once they hit my teams’ Kanban boards. Items from the pull queue will also become active work as they arrive. I use Kanban to translate the Kanban schedule back into traditional waterfall schedules.
Even though there are many dependencies and interfaces, such as in my project teams, you still need to have representation on a schedule or tool that has everyone. In my case, the traditional element schedules are rolled up into an IMS (Integrated Master Schedule). This allows for the various pieces from different agencies (USGS and NASA) to be arranged and ready for integration.
